RMRP 2021 Quarter 3 Update
As of 30 September 2021, 993 migrants on their way to the Arabian Peninsula were stranded in Djibouti and gathered in 11 spontaneous sites along the migration route. In Somalia, an estimated 444 migrants remain stranded in and around Bossaso, unable to continue with their journeys or return home. -PUBLICATION
RMRP 2021 Quarter 2 Update
The continued easing of movement restrictions across international boundaries in the second quarter of 2021 (Q2) increased the number of migrants arriving in Yemen when compared to the same period in 2020.Enumerators at the Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) recorded 4,876 migrant arrivals in Yemen during the period, a 33 per cent increase compared to 3,669 in the same period in 2020. However, overall numbers remain low compared to pre-pandemic years. -

RMRP 2021 Quarter 1 Update
In the first quarter of 2021, migrant arrivals into Yemen remained low compared to pre-pandemic years, despite reductions in international movement restrictions and border security. Enumerators at the Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) recorded 5,113 migrant arrivals in Yemen, compared with 27,948 in the same period in 2020, and 37,109 in 2019.However, the few migrants who have attempted to migrate irregularly to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the pandemic have typically found themselves stranded at some point along the journey in the Horn
of Africa and Yemen due to COVID-19 movement restrictions. -

RMRP 2020 Quarter 4 Update
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted movements within the region, resulting in a decrease in the bi-directional movements along the Eastern route. Despite the reduction in movements along the Eastern route, migrants continue to be amongst the most marginalized and vulnerable population groups along the migratory route as they face significant risk of communicable diseases owing to consistent barriers in accessing public health services, and sustainable waterand sanitation services. -

RMRP 2020 Quarter 3 Update
Since March 2020, over 4,100 migrants have been forcibly transferred across active frontlines or abandoned in secluded areas, with others falling into the hands of smugglers. During the reporting period, it is notable that over 4,000 migrants arein some form of verifiable detention facility. -

RMRP Mid-Year Update January to June 2020
Arrival trends in January and February were in line with patterns from previous years. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic,subsequent travel restrictions and tighter border controls in Djibouti, Yemen and Somalia, migrant arrivals into Yemen slowed considerably from March 2020. -

RMRP 2019 Quarter 4 Sitrep and Annual Review
138,213 migrant arrivals into Yemen from the Horn of Africa were recorded through IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) flow monitoring point network. Migration trends during 2019 along this route between the Horn of Africa and Yemen remained largely comparable to those of 2018 when approximately 160,000 migrants entered Yemen. -PUBLICATION
